Katha.akar began with a vision of amplifying the voices of women in media and sharing their stories to preserve their cultures. It is an initiative to make media an accessible tool so that local women and girls are able to create and represent their own cultural stories through the use of media. So far, team Katha.akar has conducted 4 such workshops, covering 3 provinces, training 60+ young girls and helping them bring out their unheard digital stories.
In the present context of Nepal, the ability to create good media content has become a privilege that caters to only a limited group of people. Among the creators of media, very few are women. While the ability to create and share media content has become such a casual activity in the present world, there is still a distinct gender gap in the field of content creation. Katha.akar works to fill this gender gap and promote more female content creators, making their stories visible to the world.
