About Women Leaders in Technology (WLiT):

Women Leaders in Technology(WLiT)’s aim is to encourage and enlarge women’s involvement in technology and help them attain key leadership positions. We do so by providing career oriented, technical, professional, and leadership development training, while also inspiring them to find their passion and offering skills to persuade those. As they attain these skills, we provide platforms to persuade passions that serve the organization’s interest, adhere to feminist principles of the internet, and use technology for problem-solving.

Summary of the Position:

The Communications Officer is a hybrid full-time position leading the communication team. The Communication Officer will directly report to the Program Co-managers, and Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an effective communications strategy and campaigns based on target audience and programs
  • Manage promotional and communications materials including developing contents for web, blogs, social media, campaigns, publications, reports, and other activities
  • Manage external and internal communications
  • Monitor and improve organization’s online presence
  • Coordinate with programs, administration and volunteers on organizational and promotional activities
  • Ensure that all communications and promotional material aligns with the organization’s mission and brand
  • Prepare reports on events and programs with support from programs team

Qualification

  1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  2. 1-2 years of relevant professional work experience working in communications
  3. Experience in communication material design and production process
  4. Knowledge of design, social media and communications tools
  5. Demonstrating good communications and interpersonal skills
  6. Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills are necessary.
  7. Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  8. Interest in working with a small, growing organization
  9. Women and people from marginalized communities are encouraged to apply.
