About Women Leaders in Technology (WLiT):

Women Leaders in Technology(WLiT)’s aim is to encourage and enlarge women’s involvement in technology and help them attain key leadership positions. We do so by providing career oriented, technical, professional, and leadership development training, while also inspiring them to find their passion and offering skills to persuade those. As they attain these skills, we provide platforms to persuade passions that serve the organization’s interest, adhere to feminist principles of the internet, and use technology for problem-solving.

Summary of the Position:

The Program Officer is a full-time position working in collaboration with focal points from across the programs, finance and administrative team. This role supports WLiT’s main activities and implementation of WLiT Fellowship program. The Program Officer will directly report and support the Program Co-managers, and Executive Director.

WLiT Fellowship

Women Leaders in Technology(WLiT) runs a yearlong fellowship program for university-level Computer Science students identifying as women. Every year, 15 participants get selected through an open call. They learn leadership skills alongside technical training in an intensive Bootcamp at the end of which they build a product in the form of a website/app. They go through a holistic growth through various activities throughout the year in various forms: mentorship from program alumni, a two-months working internship at a partner company, self-led projects and School Activities (introducing coding to young kids, career counseling, and digital safety training) programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage fellowship recruitment for Butwal through colleges and organizations 
  • Working with Fellowship leads on volunteer and program management
  • Support Internship strategic team and mentorship strategic team
  • Manage and coordinate sessions and workshops
  • Coordinate any governance requirement
  • Coordinate other relevant components of the programme as required

Qualification

  1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  2. 1 year experience in coordination related position
  3. Interest in working with a small, growing organization 
  4. Good command over written and spoken English and Nepali
  5. Tech savvy applicants preferred
  6. Preferably based in Butwal or willing to relocate
  7. Women and people from marginalized communities are encouraged to apply.
